[Rant] Weight Shaming

Description

♔▓▒░        Since this is related to weight shaming, I decided to use my OC, Haru, who is more on the bigger side. (Big breasts, small thigh-gap, etc)

I'm going to start off by saying that yes, this is going to be about Meghan Trainor's song, "All About That Bass".
Now, at first, I didn't like the song because hey, I'll admit, I'm one of those guys that hates most 'mainstream' songs. So I thought that this song was going to be like the rest, since especially the only lyrics that I actually payed attention to was "Boys like a little more booty to hold the night."
Now, on television, I saw parts of the music video that I found amusing, which was that dancing guy. So I thought 'I'm going to watch the video just to watch that guy over and over and get a laugh out of it.' However, each time I played the video, I would pay more and more attention to the lyrics, and evidently fell in love with the song by hearing the inspirational lyrics.
"Now I know you think you're fat, but I'm here to tell you; Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top."
"No I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie Doll, so if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along."
Now instantly this put me in a good mood. This girl finally made a song about being happy about yourself, regardless of your weight. So of course, I expected that the audience would react the same way. Took me until a few weeks later to actually be curious enough to look at the comments on the video.

I was completely and utterly disgusted.

The majority of the comments talk about how 'fat' Meghan is, and saying she looks like a pig or a cow. Others talk about how she is 'promoting being overweight and unhealthy'. People are also angry because they believe she is 'skinny shaming'.

First things first, Meghan is not 'fat'. And if you call her so, you are being beyond rude. And it's even worse if you go so low to call her a pig or a cow. Sure, she might be overweight, but that doesn't mean she is fat, or disgusting.
Secondly, she is not 'promoting' being overweight or unhealthy. She is simply telling those who have a smaller thigh gap that you should embrace your beauty. No matter what your weight is, you're perfect.
Lastly, but certainly not least, she is not skinny shaming. Yeah yeah, I know she says "Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that." But guess what. Directly after, she says "No, I'm just playin'." So what gives you the fucking right to complain about that one damn line, when you're throwing insults left and right like there is no tomorrow. ?

Being overly skinny is not healthy. Being overly overweight is not healthy. But one direction is not better than the other. And I sure as hell wouldn't shame someone for their damn weight.
We all have our own opinions, so I'll spit mine out;
In my opinion I find smaller thigh gaps more attractive. But that doesn't mean I don't find someone with a larger thigh gap unattractive.
In my opinion Meghan Trainer is very attractive. Dare I even call her a celebrity crush.
You may have an opinion that counters mine, but for God's sake, don't be a dick about your opinions.
You don't understand that your words could cost a life. Words hurt. And it's sad that a lot of people wouldn't even care about that fact.

If you are one of those people who shame someone for their weight, or any weak point, you fucking disgust me.

Rant over.
